In Windsor und Umgebung leben über dreihundert katholische deutsche Familien. Zum größten Teil sind es Donau-Schwaben aus Süd-«Ungarn (Bauat und Batschka. jetzt zu Jugoslawien und Rumänien gehörig), die in den Jahren 1926/29 eingewandert sind. Neuerdings kommen nun viele Neu-Einwanderer hinzu, zumeist nahe Verwandte der schon Ansässigen. Und so wird das seit je bestehende Bedürfnis nacli seelsorglicher Betreuung in der Muttersprache von neuem aktuell. Es fehlte jedoch bisher der geeignete Seelsorger. Vor sechs Monaten traf nun der aus der Batschka stammende Priester Father Koloman Moullion aus Oesterreich kommend hier ein. Gleich unternahmen die Landsleute bei der bischöflichen BeHörde Schritte, um seine Ernennung zum Seelsorger für die deutschsprechenden Katholiken in Windsor und Umgebung zu erwirken. Father Moullion, der den Leidensweg seines so schwergeprüften heimatvertriebenen Volkes in allen Phasen miterlebte, war zuletzt als Flüchtlingsseelsorger unter den Landsleuten in Wien tätig.

     Bald nach der Ernennung wurde die neue Kirchengemeinde organisiert und ein Arbeitsausschuß gewählt. Da sich gleich die dringende Notwendigfeit eines eigenen Gotteshauses erwies, wurde bald der Plan erwogen, eine eigene Kirche zu bauen, was auch bei den Gläubigen großen Anklang fand. Der agile Kirchengemeindevorftand mit den Herren Adam Scherer. Nikolaus Dulvick und Dr. Franz Grieser an der Spitze ging rüstig ans Werk, und schon nacfi kurzer Zeit konnte ein geeigneter Bauplatz nahe beim Stadtzentrum erworben werden (Parkwood Ave., südlich vom Tecumseh Blvd.). Tie große Opferwilligkeit unserer Gläubigen (das Ergebnis des ersten Aufrufes waren nahezu 10,000 Dollars) berechtigt zur Hoffnung, daß unser Gotteshaus, das dem SchutzHerrn des deutschen Volkes, St. Michael, geweiht werden soll, nicht nur begonnen, sondern auch bald vollendet sein wird. Der untere Teil der Kirche, d. h. der Gemeindesaal, soll noch dieses Jahr fertig gestellt werden. Der erste Spatenstich wurde am Sonntag, den 14. August, in feierlichem Rahmen und in Gegenwart des Bürgermeisters von Windsor, Hrn. Arthur I. Reaunte, und der ganzen St.-Michaels-Gemeinde, von Stadtpfarrer Msgr. W. Dillon gemacht. M.

 Over three hundred Catholic German families live in Windsor and the surrounding area. Most of them are Danube Swabians from southern Hungary (Banat and Batschka, now part of Yugoslavia and Romania) who immigrated in 1926/29. Lately, many new immigrants have been added, mostly close relatives of those who are already residents. And so the need for pastoral care in the mother tongue, which has always existed, becomes relevant again. So far, however, there was no suitable pastor. Six months ago, Father Koloman Moullion, a priest from the Batschka region, arrived here from Austria. The compatriots immediately took steps at the Episcopal authority to obtain his appointment as pastor for the German-speaking Catholics in Windsor and the surrounding area. Father Moullion, who witnessed the ordeal of his displaced people, who were so hard-tested, in all phases, was most recently active as a refugee chaplain among compatriots in Vienna.

 Soon after the appointment, the new parish was organized and a working committee was elected. As the urgent need for an own house of worship soon became apparent, the plan was soon considered to build an own church, which was also very popular with the faithful. The agile church congregation with Mr. Adam Scherer. Nikolaus Dulvick and Dr. Franz Grieser at the helm got down to work and after a short time a suitable building site near the city center was acquired (Parkwood Ave., south of Tecumseh Blvd.). The great willingness of our believers to make sacrifices (the result of the first call was almost 10,000 dollars) justifies the hope that our church, which is to be consecrated to the patron saint of the German people, St. Michael, will not only be started but will also soon be completed. The lower part of the church, i.e. H. the community hall should be completed this year. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on Sunday, August 14th, in the presence of the Mayor of Windsor, Mr. Arthur I. Reaunte, and the entire St. Michaels Congregation, by Pastor Msgr. W. Dillon. M.
