How did you learn about the DVHH site?:
online
search for Donauschwaben information
Comments/suggestions about the Project:
It has
been a great help in my search
Surnames you are researching: Rauch,
Pumple (Bomble), Schmidt, Rebl, Rat(Rath),
Kern
Villages of interest to you: Lazarfeld,
Sigmundfeld
Comments:
I have met, read about, and heard about many
Rauch families, but other than my Father's
family (parents & siblings), none are related.
Through this research, I hope to find out if we
might actually be related to some of the other
Rauch families here - probably several
generations back! I have also learned more about
my heritage, and found some of my grandmother
here - her recipes, her stories, her history.
Thank you!

This is a great site with a great bunch of
people. Everyone is more than willing to help.
The diversity of the topics is what makes this
group so interesting. There is more to this
group than just name and village look-ups. I
have learned so much about the food, customs and
lifestyles of my ancestors.
I'm looking
forward to 2006 and learning even more about the
Batschka and the Banat.

Comments:
I have enjoyed reading the posts on DVHH and
have learned much about my ancesters customs and
lifestyle of the old days. My father Karl
SZEHNER, (also called Charles) was born 1895 in
the town of BUZIAS, Hungary, now Romania. My
goal is to find his church records. The
family were devout Catholics, but I don't know
the name of their church or how to obtain these
records. I must be the only member with an
interest in this town, as I never hear mention
of it. Maybe someone will read this and offer a
suggestion.
Many thanks to
all,

Have been searching for Hoff relatives from
Franzfeld. Two particular relatives are eluding
me. I have ship manifest records for Jacob and
Barbara Hoff (1921) as these two going to
Mansfield, but can find no death records. So
many puzzle pieces, so few solutions! This is a
great site that is very much appreciated.

After a 6 year hiatus I have returned to my
genealogical research. I am fortunate that the
family name is rare enough that there aren’t too
many branches to follow. I have the Mercydorf
and Temeswar information, but cannot seem to
locate anything on the branch from Werschetz. If
anyone out there has any resources from this
village I am interested in finding new
information on the name KLUGESHERZ.

I am interested in my Donauschwaben heritage.
My father is from a small dorf Sarwasch (HIrschfeld)
and my mother was from a lager town called
Essegg. Both towns were located in Slavonia. I
believe between the Drava and Danube rivers.

Thank-you so much for this incredible web-site!
And I can't believe it is free with such
enlightening information. My father, soon to be
age 91 years of age, will appreciate knowing he
has an older village in Hungary with his surname
- Hegyes! That is great info to pass on to his
grandchildren & great-grandchildren. Much time
has been invested in your project, and I applaud
your work. Wonderful!

Surnames you are researching: Marx,

Villages of interest to you:
Grossentniklaus (Nagysantmiklous), Obeba,
Keglovitsch
Comments:
I have reached dead ends in searching for Marx
in Obeba, Keglevitsch and Nagyszentmiklous, now
Sannicolau Mare. The basic problem is that I
can't determine the exact Marx family before
1884. Too many (60) Marx families came from the
Rhineland Basin when the Banat was first settled
and guessing is useless.
My grandmother was
born in Obeba as Dorotya Heimbach,1887, and my
grandfather was born in Keglevitsch as Peter
Marx, 1884. I would also love to see pictures
of any of the above villages. Jodi's
photographs are wonderful, give me an idea at
least of those towns which must be similar.
Thank you to
all
