My husband's great-grandparents, Michael (1866-1927) and Maria (1876-1914) (nee Johann) Essesch  emigrated from Merczyfalva in1905. Their children, Theresa (1897-1967) and Janos  followed with an aunt, Rosina Blum (nee Herz), wife of Michael Blum and daughter of Katerina Herz (father's first name unknown). Theresa married William John Zimmer in 1915, but he is not a Merczyfalva Zimmer. They were communicants of St. Fidelis RC Church in College Point, and are buried in Mount St. Mary's Cemetery, Flushing, Queens.
