The Chronology of the
Senetra Family from 1730 to 2004
by
Rudolf Vogl
The first recorded Senetra generation (1) known (1):
The
first record of a Senetra can be found in the church archives of Homolicz (2),
a small town close to Pancsova (Pancevo) in the Vojvodina region of Serbia (3).
Joseph
Senetra (4) was born about 1730 and came as a soldier from
Ratibor in Prussia- Silesia (Razibórz
at the Oder river in the southern region of Poland) to Homolicz. There he
married the widow Catharina Steskal on
Feb 9, 1777 who had come from the town of Remich at the river Mosel
(Luxembourg). They had three children: Ambrosina, Stephan and Barbara. Joseph died on June 17, 1783 (5); the fate of his widow is
unknown.

eventually moved to Mercydorf (6)
and married Elisabetha Grosz on May 13,
1800. Elisabetha was born in Mercydorf Nov 1, 1781.
Five

children were born from this marriage: Elisabetha, Johann and Anna Maria.
Stephan Senetra died Oct 20, 1828 at the age of 56, his second wife Terézia
Paul on Nov 12, 1839.
Only two children survived
him: from his first marriage Tadeus and from his second Johann. The fate of
his fifth child from his first marriage, Elisabetha, could not be determined
from the church records in Mercydorf. It is possible that she married and
moved to another village.¨

The poem “My Home” was published
in Mercydorf Heimatbuch by Klugesherz, Lammert, Petri and Zirenner,
1987, pg 606.
Meine Heimat
Meiner schönen Heimat gleich
gibt es wohl kein zweites Reich
hier auf dem Weltenrad.
Und auf dieser grossen Welt
nirgends mir es so gefällt
wie im schönen Banat.
Der Vögleinsang im Azur,
im Blütenglanz Hain und Flur
voll wunderschöner Saat
auf den Höhen edler Wein,
Obst und Früchte wohl gedeihn
in dem schönen Banat.
