Volunteer to Help

The DVHH Project always appreciates, and is in need of, those who can volunteer to work with us in any capacity.  Whether it be assisting with the preparation of materials to be published, answering email queries, starting a new village website, performing look ups, mentoring, serving on the administrative team, or any other ideas you have to share. We believe everyone has something they can offer. Come join our group of 'Helping Hands' and help us make our site even more helpful to fellow researchers. Just ask one of us!

Village Coordinator Guidelines

Please read the following:

The DVHH Project is for people of Donauschwaben descent.  Please place your villages' German name variant (if known) and all other language variants on your village home page, this will ensure people will find your site.  The DVHH Village Index is an ongoing project, where you can enter any part of the village name and if the village is in our database, the results will provide all known language variants.  If you do not find your village, contact Jody McKim and it have it added.

We ask that requests for assistance be handled in a timely manner.

Please be patient with those asking for help and recognize their inexperience. Educating them is the most productive way to help them grow. Remember we all started at the bottom.

In order to maintain the impartiality of DVHH we ask that you do not use the DVHH as a forum for political or religious debates.

We ask that the primary focus of your village pages be aligned with the goals of the DVHH project, avoiding “personal WebPages.”  We do suggest a designated “Family Registry" for your village page be a part of your website.

We ask that you provide the following logo and link the image to www.dvhh.org on your Village web pages:

We ask that you provide a link to the DONAUSCHWABEN-VILLAGES Mailing List [DVHH-L] sponsored by Rootsweb on your website: http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/intl/HUN/DONAUSCHWABEN-VILLAGES.html

We ask that you subscribe to the DVHH-L mail list, respond to inquires regarding your village and participate in general, contributing ideas and sharing topics of general interest.

We ask that you familiarize yourself with the pages of the DVHH.  We are attempting to provide research and cultural information important to the family historian of a Donauschwaben family.

To Volunteer:

Check the VC Registry below.  If your village has a registered Village Coordinator, you can still volunteer to assist.

Village Coordinator Registry

When submitting your request indicate the position you would like, the Region and the various village names known for your village, like this:

Region: Banat

German Mersidorff, Hungary
German Mercydorf, Hungary
Hungarian Merczyfálva, Hungary
Official Cãrani, Romania

We need this to update the Village Profile page and for the Village Index.

If you have an existing 'village' website provide us the URL so we can add it to the Village Index. If you would like your photo posted, please submit a picture of yourself.

The DVHH can provide web hosting to Registered Village Coordinators in order to publish a village website.  Use of this service is governed by the 'DVHH Web Hosting Acceptable Use Policy.'
