Call Germany From the US
- Determine what time it is in Germany.
Germany is 1 hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time, which means it
is 6 hours later in Germany than it is on the East Coast of the
United States, and 9 hours later than it is on the West Coast
- Dial 011, the international access code.
- Dial 49, the German country code.
- Drop the 0 from the city code. Some city
codes for major cities in Germany include 030 for Berlin, 069
for Frankfurt, 06221 for Heidelberg, 0711 for Stuttgart and 089
for Munich.
- Dial the remaining digits.
How to Call Romania
From the US
- Determine what time it is in
Romania. Romania is 2 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time, which
means it is 7 hours later in Romania than it is on the East
Coast of the United States, and 10 hours later than it is on the
West Coast.
- Remember that most younger
Romanians and almost everyone working in the tourist industry
speaks some English. If you've stumbled on someone who doesn't,
you might try French or German, which are also studied widely.
- Dial 011, the international
access code.
- Dial 40, the Romanian country
code.
- Drop the 0 from the beginning
of the city code. The city code for Bucharest, Romania's
capital, is 01.
- Dial the remaining digits.
- Example
011-40-256-XXXXXX
Timis County is 256, check the correct city code.
