Submission Guidelines

How to get your stories or articles published at DVHH.org . . .

We welcome your submissions for publication. 

DVHH.org prides itself on providing excellent, entertaining, informative and unique articles about the Donauschwaben experiences.  We are fully staffed with editors who will help you to present your story in an accurate, well-written and detailed publication, that will speak to our curious audience. 

Authorization for Publishing Copyrighted Material

Material that has already been published elsewhere or is protected by existing copyright shall be submitted for publication on any DVHH website only if the submitter indicates the source of the material: the title of the book it came from, the name of the author, the name of the publisher, the year and place of publication, to the extent that these are known.  It is DVHH policy that any written or graphic material that was copyrighted by another individual or organization will be published on the DVHH website only if it is supported by a proper authorization to republish obtained from the owner of the copyright. For any material taken from old or out-of-print books, the submitter is requested to attempt to contact the author or publisher and obtain an authorization to republish. If the attempt is unsuccessful, the submitter must provide evidence of the attempt to contact. This is necessary to comply with international copyright laws and maintain DVHH in good standing within the internet communication community.

Submit all contributions [stories, articles or images] for publication, following the above outlined procedure to DVHH Community; as well as any questions, comments and concerns regarding the DVHH Policy Statement.

Requesting Help

Our project volunteers are not professional genealogists, but many can provide you with the same information.  If you are looking for specific information regarding your family, or need assistance in your research, subscribe to our mailing list sponsored by Rootsweb - DVHH-L Mailing List.  Post your request to the entire list, and thereby increase your chances for better and faster results, and your message will be archived in the searchable Rootsweb database.

Check the regional section for your particular area of interest, and the lookups section to see if your needs can be met there first.  Please read "Posting an inquiry" before you send an email asking for assistance.

Note: Be patient if the Volunteer does not respond as quickly, they are busy assisting others in addition to their private lives.  Please let us know if a Volunteer never responds.

Note: By submitting a help request, you are granting a DVHH Representative permission to forward your email to the entire DVHH Mail list hosted by Rootsweb, which is PUBLIC.

We do acknowledge and sympathize problems with spam, but as a courtesy, please  DO NOT expect a reply which will require an advisor to  submit a form to clear your spam acceptance program. 

Most important, if you receive a reply and are provided information, send a "thank you."  Please do not request information that you have previously received from someone else, to "double-check" your sources.  This is a waste of time for all concerned.  ~ Please see our Lookup Request Manners.
