Postcards from the past
For
over a hundred years, postcards have
been sent all over the world from
Banat. In the summer of 1897, the
Banater postcards became popular on
the market. Photos of cities,
villages and cultural scenes from
the Banat were printed on postcards.
Years later, the postcards became
collectors items because they
brought back memories. Four of the
most popular collectors were, Erwin
Acs, Johann Hoch, Walter Konschitzky
and Anton Schulz. These four
gentlemen donated some of their fine
collections of postcards to the
"Landsmannschaft der Banater
Schwaben Club." As always, the club
utilizes some of the material to
publish books or annual Calendars.
